There are hundreds of cannabis seed varieties. There are so numerous cannabis varieties that no one can determine an exact count, as more are being developed. This is because the varieties are bred with each other. Meanwhile you get every dubious cannabis seed variety available, but they are all based on the same plant, the Cannabis Sativa. Cannabis varieties can vary in impact, price, cultivation, appearance and other elements. Some of the most famous cannabis seed strains are definitely Crystal, Chronic, Big Bud, Ice, White Widow, Northern Light and Super Skunk. But there are many more cannabis seed varieties than just these.

Cannabis varieties can be split into four main groups/species. These are:

• Indica
• Sativa
• Ruderalis

Indica

Indica cannabis strains are mostly small and compact. Well suited for the so-called "Homegrow", where you cultivate hemp at home in a growbox. Despite the fact that the plant becomes fairly small (about 1m), Indicas yield relatively many buds. There are Indica Cannabis varieties that yield up to 600g per m² (about 4-5 plants). Indicas nearly all come from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Tibet, Nepal, etc. so mainly from South Asia. The effect is more physical and makes you deeply relaxed, creating deep relaxation.

Sativa

Sativa comes from the equatorial regions. This variety continues growing during flowering, so Sativas tend to grow very tall. In the wild, these can grow up to many meters high. The leaves are wide with many small leaflets.

Cannabis Ruderalis

The name comes from "ruderal", a term for a wild growing plant. Ruderalis is indigenous to Russia, Central Europe and Central Asia. They are very tiny, between 30-80 cm tall. The plant has very few branches, but wide, bushy and light green fingers. As it has very low THC content, it is seldom smoked but its genetics makes it very interesting for breeding.
